February Half Term Hostel Trip 2010
Sat 13th Feb 2010
We first travelled from Leeds to the Manchester Museum of Science & Industry where the Scouts and Explorers enjoyed explorering the various interesting displays. After that we travelled on to Forest Camp in Cheshire and the George Begg Buiding where we were staying.
Sun 14th Feb
The first activity of the day was a visit to Jodrell Bank home of the world famous Lovell Radio Telescope where we watched a 3D film and explorer the visitors centre before having lunch. After lunch a we walked through Marbury Country Park and along the canal to the Anderton Boat Lift.
Mon 15th Feb
The main activity of the day was Skiing and Snow Tubing at the Runcorn Ski Centre. The Scouts & Explorers enjoyed a fun Ski session learning some basic skiing while also having to avoid obstacles and jump cones etc. This was followed by snow tubing which was also great fun.
After lunch we visited the Salt Museum in Northwich where we learned about the traditional salt mining in the local area and how the UK's grit salt was still mined in the last remaining salt mine. After the museum visit the Scouts & Explorers has some free time in Northwich.
Tues 16th Feb
The morning was spent tidying and cleaning up the hostel and packing up ready to leave. On the journey back we stopped at the Imperial War Museum North and spent a couple of hours looking around the displays before returning to Leeds.
