Summer Camp 2010

West Runton, North Norfolk

Saturday 24th July

Most of the day was spent travelling to the campsite near West Runton in North Norfolk. The lunch stop on the journey was Castle Rising near Kings Lynn. Once at site the Scouts and Explorers got on with pitching their tents and setting up the rest of their patrol areas.

Sunday 25th July

The main activtiy of the day was visitng Banham Zoo. The Scouts & Explorers enjoyed seeing all types of animals from seals to tigers, cheetahs to meercats.

Monday 26th July

Bikes were hired from Sherringham, The Scout & Explorers and two Leaders then rode the bikes along the coast and had lunch on a beach. In the afternoon the ride continues along the coast for a bit before turning inland and uphill to Holt. At Holt the rest of the Leaders met up with the cyclists after a train ride and two different Leaders took over the cycling duties and cyled with the Scouts & Explorers back to camp.

Tuesday 27th July

The first activity of the day was a trp to the Muckleburgh Tank Museum which included a ride on a troop carrier and watching a tank being driven around.

Wednesday 28th July

The morning was spent tidying up camp ready for inspection and getting wood in for the roast dinner. Then it was time to prepare the big roast dinner of the camp. The late afternoon/evening was spent on the nearby beach with a picnic tea on the beach.

Thursday 29th July

The morning was spent at the Royal Air Force Air Defence Radar Museum. After luch a walk was undeaken with the Explorers being dropped off a short disatance from the coast and the Scouts being dropped off at the coast and both waking through Cromer and then back to camp.

Friday 30th July

The whole day was spent at Hautbois activity centre. Activites enjoyed by the Scouts & Explorers included climbing on the climbing wall, archery and raft building and riding.

Saturday 31st July

The Scouts & Explorers did a treasure hunt and had some free time in Sheringham in the morning. Then after lunch they walked to the swimming pool with a 150m slide and wave machine before haivng a fish and chip supper on the beach. In the evening a baloon wrestling game was played.

Sunday 1st August

The morning was spent packing up camp and loading the trailer before setting off from camp back to Leeds after lunch.
